The Civic Coupe

Starting at $19,050 MSRP, the fuel economy of the base model 2016 Civic Coupe drops below the bar set by the sedan to 26/38 mpg due to its 6-speed manual transmission. However, on models with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), those numbers go up to 30/41 mpg. The LX and LX-P are equipped with a 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine. Meanwhile, the EXT, EX-L, and Touring boast a 1.5L DOHC inline 4-cylinder with single-scroll MHI TD03 turbo, direct injection, and an internal wastegate.

The Civic HF Sedan

Most comparable to the Civic Sedan base model, the 2015 Honda Civic HF Sedan base model gets 31/41 mpg and starts at $20,040 MSRP. Its 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine has earned this model a ULEV-2/PZEV emissions rating. It offers great fuel economy at a lower cost than a hybrid, along with efficiency-boosting features like the Eco Assist system and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Keep in mind that this model was specifically designed for fuel economy; those who want to pile on extra features would be better served by a different Civic.

It comes with a 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine that maximizes efficiency and minimizes emissions, making this Civic an Advanced Technology Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV). Eco Assist and the big green ECON button help drivers improve fuel economy when they wish to. Before buying, check the availability of fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in your area.
