Soos Creek Wine Cellars specializes in red wine made from a variety of Bordeaux grapes. Production started out at 100 cases in 1989 when the winery was established and grew to 2,000 cases as of 2012. They are only open to the public in March during their annual open house. To reach Soos Creek Wine Cellars, head north on WA-167 to WA-18 East. Exit on to SE 256th Street and then turn right on 180th Ave SE. Turn left on SE 240th Street and finally turn left on 172nd Avenue SE to get to the winery.

3. Devorah Creek Vineyards

After traveling to Napa Valley and falling in love with wine, Joshua Neely decided to grow grapes on his farm in Auburn. Devorah Creek Vineyards now has a 1600-square-foot tasting room and produces both red and white wines. To reach the winery, take E Valley Highway E to Oravetz Road SE. Take R Street SE/Riverwalk Drive SE to WA-164 E and follow that to the winery.

4. Ginkgo Forest Winery

Located in Old Town Tacoma, Ginkgo Forest Winery produces a variety of high-quality wines, including whites, rosés, reds, and dessert wines. The tasting room, which was a former art gallery, opens at noon Wednesday through Sunday. The full line of wines is available for tasting, and the venue has special events throughout the year with live music and special food. To get to Ginkgo Forest Winery, take WA-167 S toward I-5 S. From there, take I-705 N to Schuster Parkway and then drive to N 30th Street.

5. 21 Cellars

Also in Tacoma, 21 Cellars is a boutique winery that produces less than 1,000 cases every year. The winemakers take pride in making sure their grapes are picked and destemmed by hand. From there, the wine spends three years in French oak barrels before it’s bottled and sold. To experience the wines of 21 Cellars, visit the Barrel Room every Saturday between 2 and 6 p.m. To get to 21 Cellars, head toward I-5 S. From there, take I-705 N and exit onto Stadium Way. Continue to N 21st Street.
