Our Auburn Area Honda Dealer is Urging You to Watch out for Animals in the Road

June 16th, 2015 by

Although there are many ways to warn people, there really is no way to keep animals out of the road. They could pop up anywhere at any given moment. They are responsible for thousands, even millions of accidents each year in the United States. Our Auburn area Honda dealer is urging you to watch out for animals in the road.

Stay Focused

Staying focused while driving is important for so many reasons, and avoiding animals in the road is one of them. Never let yourself get distracted by things like your phone, the radio, eating, or your passengers. Pay attention to the road 100% of the time. Look out for animal crossing signs, making sure to slow down and check both sides of the road for animals as you drive. Be extra cautious in heavily wooded areas, or areas with water.

Tips to Avoid Them

While sometimes there is nothing you can do to avoid hitting an animal, there are a few tips and tricks that you should follow. First of all, be extra vigilant during peak seasons and peak times of the day. If you encounter an animal in the road, try flashing your headlights at them. In many cases this will scare them away. You can try sounding your horn, too. Be careful that you don’t make any sudden and crazy moves without thinking about it first, like swerving or slamming on your brakes. You don’t want to risk getting into a bad accident just to avoid hitting an animal.
