2017 Honda Civic LXThe Honda Civic is an excellent vehicle all-around. This five-passenger sedan offers quick acceleration, it is fuel efficient, and it has a roomy and comfortable interior. The LX trim is the base level, but it still comes with an impressive list of features. Here is a first look at the 2017 Honda Civic LX.

The Exterior

A look at the outside of the LX will show the 16-inch alloy wheels and sleek front fascia with projector-beam halogen headlights. This base trim also comes with power side mirrors that include an expanded view mirror on the driver’s side. For 2017, Honda introduces the Civic Hatchback, which also comes in the LX trim. The exciting new hatchback adds a larger back windshield to the vehicle, and its taillights lead to a rear spoiler that crosses over the top of the glass.

The Engine

The LX comes standard with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. Honda pairs this with a six-speed manual transmission, but you can opt for a continuously variable transmission (CVT) if you prefer. This is one of the best CVTs available, and it does an impressive job of mimicking a traditional transmission. The LX hatchback comes with a 1.5-liter turbo engine that produces 174 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.

Safety

One of the standard safety features on the LX includes a multiangle rearview camera that allows you to select from three different angles for a better view around you. You can add the Honda Sensing suite of safety features to the LX for driver assist systems, such as road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, and a collision mitigation braking system. This package will also get you adaptive cruise control with a low-speed follow feature. Other standard safety features include stability and traction control, antilock brakes, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Interior

Inside the cabin of the Civic LX, you will find a space that is roomy and comfortable. Even this base trim has high-quality materials throughout, and the back seat has plenty of legroom. The rear seat backs also have a 60-40 split, so you can customize the amount of cargo space. With the seats up in the sedan, you’ll find an impressive 15.1 cubic feet, and in the Hatchback Civic, you will find an even larger 25.7 cubic feet of cargo space. The LX also comes with automatic climate control, and you can manually adjust the driver’s seat for height.

Technology

This model comes with a 5-inch color display screen. There is Bluetooth connectivity for your phone, so you can enjoy hands-free talking while you drive, and you can wirelessly connect your audio device for music streaming. A four-speaker sound system allows you to listen to your favorite music and a USB port is standard.

The new 2017 Honda Civic LX has a lot to offer. This base model sedan comes well-equipped with standard features and the choice between a manual or CVT, so you can choose how you want to drive.
