Introducing the Brand New 2016 Honda HR-V

If you haven’t heard about the 2016 HR-V, it’s Honda’s brand new subcompact SUV. Starting at $20,000, the HR-V offers buyers the interior space of a compact SUV with the performance of a fuel-efficient car. You can also rest easy knowing that Honda was named the Best Overall Brand in 2015 for the third year in a row by Kelley Blue Book and prides itself on that reputation for quality. 

Interior Room

Honda’s 2016 HR-V is spacious enough for five passengers. Those in the front seats enjoy nearly 40-inches of headroom while back seat passengers feel comfortable with 38-inches of headroom. Everyone will be able to stretch out thanks to ample legroom measuring about 40-inches for passengers in the front and back.

All that room for passengers can also be easily converted into cargo space by folding down the seats. The two-wheel drive version of the HR-V offers about 24 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and nearly 59 cubic feet with the seats folded down. All-wheel drive HR-Vs have slightly less cargo space, providing about 23 cubic feet of space when the seats are upright and approximately 57.5 cubic feet when they are down.

Performance

Under the hood of a 2016 HR-V is an in-line 4-cylinder engine able to produce a maximum of 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. Both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available, and the transmission is also offered as either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. 

The manual transmission is only available as a two-wheel drive, and it has a combined fuel economy of 28 miles per gallon. Both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available with the continuously variable transmission. The two-wheel drive version gets a combined city and highway mileage of 31 miles per gallon. All-wheel drive nets a slightly lower combined fuel mileage of 29 miles per gallon.
