Sumner’s Street of Treats

It’s hard to believe that October is already here! The days are getting shorter, the air is getting cooler, and fall is in full swing. It will all lead up to the celebration of Halloween on Wednesday, October 31! A great way to celebrate the holiday with the family is at Street of Treats in downtown Sumner. Main Street in Historic Downtown Sumner will be shut down for the event, with merchants and residents in the downtown area handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, who are invited to wear their best costumes and celebrate the festivities!

Past Street of Treats Celebrations

Past editions of the Street of Treats event have been memorable and packed with fun. ACT1 Theatre Productions has entertained attendees with dancing scarecrows, adding to the festive spirit on Main Street. Downtown buildings and structures like the Ryan House have also been adorned with fall- and Halloween-themed decorations. Plus, Sumner Police and McGruff the Crime Dog have passed out glow bracelets to add both excitement and safety to the community event.

A local tradition for the last several years, Street of Treats allows kids to enjoy the fun of trick-or-treating while remaining in a safe setting with adult supervision. Parents won’t have to worry about their young children roaming a dimly-lit neighborhood or traversing busy roads.

Street of Treats will begin promptly at 5 PM on the evening of Wednesday, October 31, 2018, and continue until 7 PM. This free event is brought to you by the merchants of downtown Sumner, the Sumner Downtown Promotion Association, and the City of Sumner. It’s a great way to get out in the local community and enjoy the Halloween spirit!
