Honda Dealership | Honda Cars near Seattle, WA | Honda of SumnerWith the 2017 model year, the Honda Ridgeline enters its second generation. Honda has taken ample feedback into account when designing the newest version of its compact pickup truck. As a result, the all-new Ridgeline has plenty of new features that truck lovers and tailgaters will enjoy.

The Truck Bed

While a shallow truck bed limits the amount of heavy cargo items you can add, the Ridgeline was never going to hold as much as a full-size truck. As it is, the truck bed is high enough that it almost completely covers the wheel wells, making it an excellent surface for storing flat objects such as drywall panels and lumber. The high truck bed also leaves room for a large, 7.3 cubic-foot lockable trunk. The trunk comes with a removable drain, so you can store wet items or convert it into an icebox for tailgating parties.

Outdoor Fun

The 2017 Ridgeline also comes with several features that can improve tailgating parties, outdoor work, or any other time you need to be outside near your truck. For instance, there’s the available truck bed audio system, which lets you blast the songs from your mobile phone while you work or play. The available truck bed outlet can help with both, since you can hook up a power tool or a television to run on your Ridgeline’s power. The 2017 Ridgeline also still comes with the dual-action tailgate you can open downwards or to the side.

A Standard V6

Some compact trucks start out with a four-cylinder engine and work their way up to a V6. However, the V6 engine is where the Ridgeline starts. This means the Ridgeline can look expensive by comparison. However, it also means Honda’s compact truck starts out with a powerful 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, numbers that give it a full 5,000-pound towing capacity when equipped with an all-wheel drive. The 3.5-liter engine is also remarkably efficient, thanks to Honda’s Eco-Assist System.

The Cabin of a Sedan

The 2017 model admittedly has the same issues with rear seat space as other trucks. However, in many ways, the Ridgeline has interior features you would expect from an expensive sedan. For instance, tri-zone automatic climate control with humidity control and an air filter is standard on every trim level except the first, and that’s not the sort of thing you would expect to see from an ordinary truck. Soft-touch materials are standard on every trim, and heated leather seats come on the RTL trim and above.

An all-new Ridgeline is here, and it’s here to party. Whether you’re driving your kids around, tailgating outside a stadium or in your own front yard, helping someone move, or putting in a garden, the 2017 Ridgeline has plenty to love for all sorts of occasions. While it does not have the bed capacity of a full-size truck, the Ridgeline makes up for that by adding plenty of features you will not find on a truck designed for nothing but work.
