Which Honda vehicles were named “Best Cars for the Money” by US News World Report?

US News and World Report is a very respected publication in many industries, including automotive. One hallmark of the auto section on their website is its new and used car rankings, which are updated each and every month. The rankings compare vehicles to one another in areas like safety, reliability and more, and then each year editors take this information into account alongside data on each vehicle’s overall value – including its five-year cost of ownership and average price – and hand out its annual Best Cars for the Money awards.

This year, awards were handed out to five cars, five SUVs and one minivan, each being recognized as the best car for the money in its specific segment. For the Honda brand, we were pleased to see two of our models earn these exciting awards. The Honda Civic earned the Best Compact Car for the Money award for the second year in a row, while the Honda Odyssey increased its consecutive years earning the Best Minivan for the Money award to three in a row.

How do they determine quality?

As mentioned, they determine quality from their monthly vehicle rankings. But how exactly are those rankings achieved? Editors at US News and World Report compile and analyze data from tons of credible reviews across the automotive press, focusing on specific aspects of the vehicle. They want to make sure the vehicle drives well, that its interior is comfortable, that its tech and features work well and similar things. They use this in conjunction with the cold hard facts, looking at specifications like fuel efficiency ratings, spatial dimensions and crash test ratings to put an overall numerical score on each vehicle.

How do they determine value?

As for determining the value of each vehicle, the editors look at much more than just its base MSRP. Instead, they utilize compiled data on final prices as well as five-year total cost to own for every vehicle.
