Each year, every vehicle sold in the United States is put through a battery of rigorous crash testing and awarded certain scores and titles to show consumers just how safe and reliable each vehicle is. There are two main organizations that handle these tests, the NHTSA and the IIHS. The latter – which is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety – recently released several award winners from the Honda and Acura brands, so we thought we’d highlight which vehicles from these two brands managed to bring home these prestigious honors.

Which Acura models earned awards?

While we don’t provide new Acura models here at Rairdon’s Honda of Sumner, Acura is a brand under the Honda umbrella, so we thought we’d celebrate the vehicles that earned honors from the IIHS anyways by highlighting them for you. The 2023 Acura Integra, MDX and RDX each earned TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, which is the highest a vehicle can earn from the IIHS.

Which Honda models earned awards?

2023 Honda Odyssey Exterior Passenger Side Front ProfileNaturally, we’re much more excited about the honors earned by the Honda brand, as these are models we provide. You can find each model right here at Rairdon’s Honda of Sumner, just check out our online inventory.

As you can see, the brand’s minivan and two of its crossover utility vehicles earned the highest rating a vehicle can get from the IIHS, much like every Acura model. The Honda Civic wasn’t far behind, earning the second-highest award. Astute enthusiasts and shoppers might notice that neither the 2023 Honda Accord or Pilot are present in the list, but don’t worry. This isn’t because they failed to earn high ratings, it’s simply that they haven’t yet been put to the test by the organization. Of course, Honda is targeting TSP+ designations for all three vehicles, so we suspect their ratings will be on par with the others.
