Which Honda models earned 2023 Editors’ Choice Awards from Car and Driver Magazine?
There are a ton of publications out there dedicated to the automotive industry, with some being more reliable and respected than others. For example, juggernauts like Edmunds, MotorTrend and Car and Driver are just a few of the top dogs. The latter of these three publications just recently released the latest iteration of their annual Editors’ Choice Awards, which is an exhaustive list of the vehicles they think are the best options in a given category. While this isn’t a one-model-per-segment award, rather a recognition of all the models the editors think are worth a purchase, this is still a huge honor that we’re pleased to say a whopping nine Honda models were able to earn.

Award Winners
Let’s start off with the most exciting and impressive feat of the bunch. While the midsize pickup truck segment might not be as prestigious or popular as the traditional full-size pickup truck class, there are still several entries being produced in the segment. Even still, the 2023 Honda Ridgeline was the only model to get recognized in this specific category this year! Below we’ll include a list of the other eight vehicles that earned awards for their given segments, as well as the other models that earned recognition in their given categories, to show you just how awesome it is that these models have won awards.
- Family Sedan – 2023 Honda Accord (Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5)
- Compact – 2023 Honda Civic (Mazda3, Toyota Corolla)
- Sport Compact Car – 2023 Honda Civic Si & 2023 Honda Civic Type R (Hyundai Elantra N, Toyota GR Corolla, Volkswagen Golf GTI, Volkswagen Golf R, Volkswagen Jetta GLI)
- Compact SUV – 2023 Honda CR-V (Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-50, Volkswagen Tiguan)
- Mid-Size SUV – 2023 Honda Passport & 2023 Honda Pilot (Ford Bronco, Ford Bronco Raptor, Hyundai Palisade, Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Kia Sorento, Kia Telluride, Mazda CX-9
As you can see, some of these segments with only a couple of winners have some big names missing from them, which makes the Honda model being recognized that much sweeter. But those segments that have a bunch of winners also showcase just how stiff the competition was, and that the Honda nameplates are comparable to some heavy hitters.
